CONNELLSVILLE -- A two-hour standoff ended with police accidentally shooting an unarmed man who was distraught over his father's death.

Randall McKlveen was shot accidentally late Saturday after police stormed his house. Mr. McKlveen was in serious condition today at Pittsburgh's UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with a bullet wound in the shoulder.

Police said they went to Mr. McKlveen's home after receiving a call that he was threatening to harm himself and his family.

Mr. McKlveen refused to allow officers to enter and locked himself in a room. Police stormed the house after getting an order allowing them to enter the residence and take Mr. McKlveen to a mental health facility.

The police officer's gun discharged after Mr. McKlveen had been taken into custody.
