Connellsville man injured in home invasion

Three male juveniles were apprehended late Friday on charges they committed an armed robbery at a Connellsville home and struck one of the victims with a handgun.

The suspects, ages 14, 16 and 17, were charged with robbery and placed into a juvenile placement facility, state police said.

According to state police, the crime occurred at about 11 p.m. at 606 E. Francis Ave. The suspects, armed with pistols, rang the rear doorbell and when Caesar Gaspari, 79, opened the door, they forced their way inside.

One of the suspects twice struck Mr. Gaspari in the head with a handgun causing two severe lacerations to his forehead.

Two of the suspects forced Lisa Sue Gaspari, 35, into the bedroom and retrieved a safe.

The suspects fled the scene on foot and were located at 106 W. Cedar St. by Connellsville police and were taken into custody.

Mr. Gaspari was taken by ambulance to Highlands Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.
