A Washington County man was arrested Thursday on charges that he sexually assaulted two young girls while babysitting them.
State Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane announced the charges today against Curtis Ray Thompson Jr., 29, of Scenery Hill. They include two counts each of rape by forcible compulsion, indecent assault, indecent assault of a victim less than 13 years of age, terroristic threats, and one count each of rape of a victim less than 16 years of age with the perpetrator being four or more years older than the victim, and sexual assault and one count of criminal solicitation
According to the criminal complaint, Mr. Thompson sexually assaulted and raped the girls when they were 5 and 7 years old. Mr. Thompson was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incidents, and often assaulted the girls while he was babysitting, according to a statement released today from the attorney general’s office.
Prosecutors allege that Mr. Thompson threatened to shoot and kill the girls if they told anyone. One of the girls, who is now 15, recently told authorities about the incidents when she was hospitalized for depression and suicidal thoughts, which she attributed to the abuse.
Mr. Thompson was arrested Thursday, arraigned and released on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 31.
