An SUV ran a red light and crashed into a school van this morning, injuring six students.

The crash occurred at 9:09 a.m. at the intersection of the West End Bridge and West Carson Street.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said six students from The Academy, a charter school for adjudicated children, were in the van and were taken to Allegheny General Hospital with injuries she described as “very minor.”

No one in the SUV was hurt, she said. Its driver was cited for running a red light.
