A South Side man was killed this morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Parkway East.

Pennsylvania State Police said the driver, William J. Callan, 60, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason and hit the center concrete barrier about 11:30 a.m., near the Greenfield Avenue Bridge.

Police it’s not clear if he died of injuries suffered in the crash or if a previous medical condition played a role. He died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

Two of three lanes were blocked outbound for about an hour and one lane was blocked inbound by a responding ambulance. The latter lane reopened shortly before noon.
