Man dies digging ditch in Lawrence County

A man was killed this afternoon while he was digging a ditch for a septic tank and the ditch collapsed, state police said.

The collapse occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. off of Plain Grove Road in Plain Grove Township, police said. Raymond James Davis, 48, of Volant, entered the 9-foot trench he was digging with a family member when a sidewall collapsed on him, according to state police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
