I tip my hat to you: You could feel the excitement building for this year’s Hat Luncheon (to be held on May 7 in Frick Park) as guests arrived for a private cocktail party at Michael and Ramsey Lyons’ home. I personally love a private house party because it is so fun to see the way people decorate and live. Their home was incredibly beautiful and modern and charming all at the same time, with everyone gushing about the hand-painted walls in the foyer that resembled gray agate stone. The other topic of conversation? Hats of course! “I have a love of taxidermy,” laughed co-chair Kiya Tomlin, “And this year, I want something to reflect that, but Gina [Mazzotta, milliner] doesn’t want to touch anything that was actually alive, so who knows what will happen!” But beyond the fun of wearing hats to a fab lunch, the event’s focus is on the upkeep and improvement of the city’s parks, a cause near and dear to event co-chair Ms. Lyons’ heart. “We love Pittsburgh and coming from New York City, I was super impressed with how wonderful the parks are here and how much I utilize them in our daily lives. We are just so honored to be a part of keeping them beautiful for everyone to enjoy.”
