#ChangeItUp: It was a change of venue for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund benefit Champions for Children. Usually held at the Rivers Club, Downtown, this year the event migrated to The Priory Grand Hall on the North Side on Monday night. The organ loft in the former church was used for the VIP reception. Nearly 500 guests enjoyed a meatball bar, taco bar and mac ’n cheese bar as well as a classic libations bar.
#MakeADifference: After eating, drinking and circling the silent auction there was an awards presentation. Event co-chair Ray Buehler, with his wife Kathy, acted as emcee. Andy and Cindy Russell were the Champions for Children honorees, while Erik Garrett received the Joe Lagana Volunteer award, and Liz Miller was recognized with the Linda A. Dickerson award. Supporters included the fund’s founder Joe Lagana, Greg DiGioia, David Goldman and Judi Vitale, executive director Bill Wolfe with Eileen, Maggie and Mark Vuono, Alex Henn, Kathleen and Richard Yost, Timothy Holt, Aaron Parkus, Lisa and Steve Thompson, Franny and Kenny Brown, Amy Stabingas, Jamie Hudzik, Phyllis Hartman, Ted Sobek, Carolyn Lyle with Ed Shea, Hollie Geitner, Dan and Mary Koller, Cassandra Dixon, Stefania Romoff, Carol Massaro with Stephanie Massaro, Terry and Kelly Peyton and Joel and Lani Walker.
