The Place: The Fairmont Pittsburgh grand ballroom, Friday.
The Purpose: To honor Eva Tansky Blum (Regional Vitality Award), Ruby Kang (Philanthropy) and Amelia Brause (Emerging Leader) for their service to the community during the sixth annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon. The event was also a benefit for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter to support its quest for a cure and better quality of life for sufferers of the disease. Socializing and scouring the silent auction kept everyone busy until the ballroom opened and the program began with a welcome by pediatric patient Patrick May. A video featuring Dr. Herbert "Skip" Virgin, a pathologist at Washington University School of Medicine, explained the progress being made with the CCFA genetics initiative.
The People: Among the nearly 350 guests were event chairs Debbie Moses and Roz Neiman, CCFA chapter President Laura Saulson (with Gary), Helen Hanna Casey, Annie Engel, Judy Woffington, Cate Linn, Catherine Loevner, Linda Hurwitz, Laura Seifert and Dr. Jim Kang.
