Silk Screen Film Festival Gala held at the Rivers Club

When and where: Friday at the Rivers Club.

Did You Know: The Silk Screen Film Festival is one of the largest Asian film festivals in the country. Founded by CEO Harish Saluja, the nine-day event kicked off with its ninth annual gala. “We are the only festival to define Asia from Turkey through Japan, making it very inclusive. This festival has grown to include educational programs and programs for children,” said Katie Jones, operation and events director.

Everyone was talking about: Film, of course! Especially “Hank and Asha,” a modern love story about an Indian woman living in the Czech Republic who falls for a New Yorker through video letters. Producer and director Julia Morrison said she was inspired to create the story after she and her husband moved to Prague and yearned to make deeper connections. Mr. Saluja was also talking about his favorite films “Omar” (from Palestine) and “Jadoo” (from India).

SEEN among the 420 guests: Mayor Bill Peduto, Dan Gilman, Dr. Vijal and Christine Bahl, Veda Vadyar, Shubhit Singh, Kyle Reynolds, Lisa Morse, David Bennett, Amina Fathallah, Kai Lin, Jeremiah Jackson, Ben and Rachel Kelley.
