Leadership Pittsburgh holds third annual Champagne Lunch

The Fairmont Pittsburgh was crackling with energy last Tuesday afternoon during the third annual Leadership Pittsburgh Champagne Lunch & Connection event. It was the largest turnout to date for the event, which thrilled luncheon chair Dolly Ellenberg and LP president Aradhna Oliphant, who welcomed everyone.

Mayor Bill Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald spoke about the important work done by the organization over the past 30 years. “I think 2014 is going to be a terrific year for this group,” said Mr. Fitzgerald. Nearly 300 guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly before they disappeared into the crowd of former and present Leadership Pittsburgh class members.

Bill Strickland, CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corp., was introduced after lunch by board chair Bob Buzzelli, He delivered the LP “Briefnote,” emphasizing that nothing is impossible when it comes to helping those less privileged, especially children. The room erupted with applause and a standing ovation. Among the minglers and movers were Fifth Third Bank president Julie Hughes (event sponsor), Art Stroyd, B.J. Leber, Sarah Miele and Annie Lewis.
