The Vanilla Pastry Studio, in business for more than a decade offering some of the area’s most renowned cupcakes, will be closing its Regent Square operation Sunday.
Owner April Gruver announced the closure on the bakery’s Facebook page this week. She said in a phone interview Thursday morning that she was interested in pursuing a new opportunity as executive pastry chef of Common Plea Catering, with which she’s had a long relationship.
“It felt like the right time to make a transition, because I want to focus on making real pastries,” Ms. Gruver said, instead of needing to make operation of a business her priority.
Vanilla Pastry Studio, which will close at 3 p.m. Sunday, has been on Braddock Avenue since 2013 after operating previously in East Liberty and the West End.
Ms. Gruver said the bakery has a number of arrangements in place for weddings this year, and she will be in touch with those clients to honor the commitments.
