Garden Mart in Ambridge

Old Economy Village in Ambridge, Beaver County, will hold a Garden Mart today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Heirloom vegetables and other plants from the greenhouses will be for sale. Nearly a dozen vendors will be on hand selling garden-related items. Admission to the Garden Mart and Old Economy's gardens is free.

North Franklin Wetlands walk

The Chartiers Creek annual walk through the North Franklin Wetlands in Washington County is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Sunday. The group will meet in the parking lot next to the North Franklin Fire Company, 565 Sylvan Drive, 15301. Participants are asked to park on the west side of the lot, close to Franklin Farms Road.

Jason Kilgore, assistant professor of biology at Washington and Jefferson College, will again lead the walk. He has a doctorate in plant physiology and ecology and will describe the important roles that wetlands fill. He will also identify wetlands plants and animals
