Food Column: Holiday cookie sales, pancake breakfasts with Santa and more


Holly Jolly Wine Trail: Wine tastings, themed food pairings, handcrafted Christmas tree ornaments, live music and Santa. Friday through Sunday at Knockin Noggin in Volant, Fractured Grape in New Wilmington and Nova Cellars in Pulaski. $30; $50 for a pair; $25 for designated drivers. Each ticket includes wine samples, a full glass of your favorite, small food pairings and an ornament to take home at each location.

Squirrel Hill Holiday Wine Walk: Holiday-themed, self-paced wine tasting through Squirrel Hill businesses with red and white wines, mulled ciders and treats. 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Squirrel Hill Business District. $25. (search for “Squirrel Hill Holiday Wine Walk”).

Cookie Walk: Christmas cookies, nut rolls, apricot rolls, poppy seed rolls, nut horns and lady locks for sale. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Whitehall. $10 per pound for cookies; $10 per dozen for nut horns; $14 each for nut, apricot or poppy seed rolls.

Holiday Cookie Walk: Nut crescents, fruit-filled kolache, Ukrainian truffles, Italian rum balls, almond cookies, Hamentaschen, Russian tea cakes, nut rolls, lady locks, biscotti, pizzelles and gluten-free cookies sold by the pound. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sts.
