Beer, rib & wing, wine and Greek festivals are on tap


Pittsburgh Summer Beerfest: Craft beers from more than 120 breweries, food trucks and live music. 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Stage AE, North Shore. $45 in advance; $50 for early admission (starts at 6:30 p.m.); $20 for designated drivers (advance tickets only). Rib & Wing Festival: Ribs from five vendors, live music, craft vendors, beer garden and children’s activities. 4 to 9 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. $7; free for ages 11 and under.

Harvest Wine Festival: Two large pavilions filled with wine tastings from eight local wineries, all-you-can-eat farm-fresh food buffet, live music and prizes near a scenic lake. 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Janoski Farms, Clinton. $39 in advance; $49 at the door. Crafting Chocolate from Bean to Bar: Overview of the history, agriculture and processing of cacao with a hands-on component of cracking cacao beans and using a stone grinder to produce chocolate from cocoa nibs, plus tastings of chocolate bars. 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus in Richland. $35.

Cooking Salmon Burgers: Learn to cook, season and garnish salmon burgers. 10 a.m. Saturday at Wholey’s Market, Strip District. Free.

Introduction to Sourdough Baking: Learn to mix, shape, score and bake sourdough, and take home a jar of sourdough starter. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus, Richland. $50.

Herbal Syrups, Shrubs and Sodas with Bridget’s Apothecary: Learn to make drinks using seasonal fruit, herbs and vinegar. 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Garden Dreams Urban Farm & Nursery, Wilkinsburg. $15.

Ugly CSA: Signups are now open for 412 Food Rescue’s Ugly CSA program. Once a week for 12 weeks, from Aug. 9-Oct. 25, members will receive a delivery of “ugly” fruits and vegetables, plus local bread and specialty products, sold at discounted prices because they are misshapen or overstocked. Cost is $250, and pickup sites are located in the North Side, Sharpsburg, Greenfield and East Liberty. SNAP can be used to pay at the East Liberty site only. To sign up:
