Stylebook: Banana Republic to debut seaside-inspired Milly capsule collection

Step into the easy, breezy beach life of the Hamptons just by slipping into your clothes.

Banana Republic's new limited-edition Milly capsule collection channels this luxe seaside lifestyle through flowing colorblock dresses, wicker accessories and colorful separates for men and women.

The women's collection also features coral chinos, halter tops, printed scarves, drop shoulder sweaters and totes. Apparel retails for $45 to $175, and accessories go for $39.50 to $130. The men's line, Milly's first menswear collection, includes button-down knit tops, vintage straight shorts and V-neck and polo shirts for $24.50 to $64.50.

In other capsule collection news, Ann Taylor has rolled out its limited-time-only Kate Hudson collection of red carpet chic-inspired looks adapted for everyday living. The actress, a charitable ambassador for the brand, worked with creative director Lisa Axelson on the line of white summer pieces and rose gold accessories. Dresses and skirts go for up to $128, tops up to $78, heels up to $158 and jewelry up to $58. It's in stores now and online at www.anntaylor.com.

Also new this month is Peter Som's line of feminine fashions for Anthropologie. The figure-flattering looks (many of which are printed dresses) reach into the $300 range in stores and at www.anthropologie.com.

Pittsburgh fashion and beauty front ...

Utopia presents Lux Fashion Pop-up trunk show: Browse designs by Pittsburgh talents Kiya Tomlin (dresses), Sandra Cadavid (handbags) and Emy Mack (shoes) at a trunk show 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the penthouse tower at Otto Milk condos, 2434 Smallman St., Strip District. Hard Hats & High Heels recycled fashion show to feature "Dance Moms" stars: Fashion students from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh will showcase their style skills by transforming finds, such as mop heads, CDs and a Twister game, from Habitat for Humanity's ReStore at Edgewood Town Centre into outfits at this second annual charity event. Guests also will be treated to hors d'oeuvres, live music, a silent auction and a performance by the Abby Lee Dance Company from the Lifetime reality TV show "Dance Moms."

It's Friday at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Uptown. The VIP cocktail hour starts at 6:30 p.m. and the show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $100 for VIP access at HardHatsHighHeels.org. The evening will benefit Habitat for Humanity's Veterans Build home repair program.
