Bama's opens in Brookline
Bama's Southern Kitchen opened at 600 Brookline Blvd. for lunch and dinner last week with a menu of beef and pork ribs, fried chicken, burgers and fish sandwiches. Sides are crowd-pleasers too, such as mac 'n' cheese, greens, fresh-cut fries and potato salad. The modest, five-table restaurant, named for the state of Alabama, lures potential customers with the scent of barbecue.
Salt serves to-go lunch
Salt of the Earth in Garfield now serves lunch. It's a one-sandwich deal that changes daily and is available for takeout only from noon to 2 p.m. Also available are Fentiman's sodas such as ginger beer, cola, lemonade or dandelion and burdock.
Il Tetto to open by weekend
Sienna Mercato's third-level beer garden with the retractable roof, Il Tetto, is scheduled to open this week, with an opening menu of fried potatoes, octopus terrine, chicharrones, olives and pork belly pastrami. It will likely become a destination drink spot with a spectacular view.
