In regard to the comments made about removing the African painted dogs from the zoo ("No Joy in Exhibit," Nov. 14) ... don't.
My heart goes out to the family of Maddox Derkosh. Being a mother of three, I can't imagine what his mom and the rest of her family are going through. The dogs were doing what instinct told them, and to remove them from the zoo would be unfair to the people who have never seen such an animal since they are an endangered species and might not ever see them in their lifetimes.
I for one will continue to support the zoo and all the animal exhibits, even when the wild dogs hopefully are put back on exhibit.
