Free day at Phipps Conservatory

Saturday, August 02, 2003

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will offer free admission Friday in honor of founder Henry Phipps' birthday.

Visitors can see all of the Schenley Park facility's exhibits from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day. Among the attractions are the Discovery Garden, where children can touch, smell, taste and see the interactions between plants and animals, and a butterfly exhibit, where they can be seen in their glorious adult form and hatching from chrysalises. Other areas feature orchids, fruits and spices, bonsai, ferns and desert plants. Information: 412-622-6914 or www.phipps.conservatory.org.
