Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show: Seed, advice free at PG booth

The last weekend of the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show is also your last chance to pick up some free seeds and meet writers for the Post-Gazette's Homes & Gardens and Food sections.

Last Chance This Weekend
WHEN: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.

WHERE: David Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.

WHAT: More than 1,400 exhibits and 10,000 products and services on gardening and home-related goods.

HIGHLIGHTS: Daily live cooking demonstrations and programs, appearances by local and national experts on home design, gardening and health.

TICKETS: $8.50 for adults; $3.50 for children ages 6-12; free for children under 6.

PARKING: $3 at stadium lots, free shuttle to convention center.

Homes writer Gretchen McKay will be at the Post-Gazette booth from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, followed by Kitchen Mailbox columnist Arlene Burnett from 1 to 3 p.m. Backyard Gardener columnist Doug Oster will be available from 3 to 7 p.m. today and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors who stop by early during Oster's shifts can get seeds for 'Cherokee Trail of Tears' pole beans and 'Potato Top' tomatoes. Others get seed packets for marigolds and old-fashioned flower mix. The Post-Gazette's display is on the second level of the Convention Center, booth numbers 314, 316, 215 and 217.
