Carnegie Mellon University robotics engineer Illah Nourbakhsh would like the Carnegie Museum of Natural History to issue an employee badge to its new robotic tour guide. One problem: it has no name.
The public can help name the robot as part of a contest sponsored by the museum, WQED Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The winner will receive $50 and a one-year family membership to the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. The winner also will be featured in Carnegie Magazine.
Entry forms are available at the natural history museum in Oakland and copies will appear in the Post-Gazette May 24, 26 and 31 and June 2, 7 and 9. Completed forms can be deposited at the museum's admissions desks. Also, suggested names can be sent by e-mail, along with the sender's name, age, address and phone number, to robot@clpgh.org
