Associations & Organizations

Barbara Duffy Stewart, executive director, Association of American Cancer Institutes, was elected president of the National Coalition for Cancer Research.

Richard DeYoung, president and chief executive officer of WTW Architects, was elected secretary of the American Institute of Architects for the 2013-14 term.

The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association board elected chairman Michael Kaczenski, president/CEO, Sun East Federal Credit Union, Aston; and vice chairman Maria LaVelle, president/CEO, Westmoreland Community Federal Credit Union, Greensburg.

The Allegheny Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters society recently held its annual election for the 2012 term. Those elected were: president, Jon Helegda; president elect, Keith Mulvihill; vice president, Brian Ball; treasurer, Mounir Kashkoush; and secretary, Sally Krauss.


ESB Bank, the largest subsidiary of ESB Financial Corp., hired Larry E. Bittner as first vice president and senior commercial lender, and Carolyn P. McBride as assistant vice president and assistant commercial credit manager.

Stephanie Gaydis was appointed assistant vice president mortgage banking business development officer at S&T Bank.


MarketSpace promoted Maureen Rooney to director of account services, and Jenessa Kaldorf and Lindsay Polito to senior graphic designers.

Flying Cork Media hired Terri Deasy as director of business development and marketing and Marny Bowman as account services supervisor.


4CTechnologies named Joshua Schmitt, senior graphic designer.


Becky Bulebosh was named the director of marketing at Seton Hill University.

The Ellis School announce the following new board members: Oliver W. Byrd, retired senior vice president, Bank of New York Mellon Financial Corp.; Joan L. Gulley, chief human resources officer, The PNC Financial Services Group; Charlie Humphrey, executive director, Pittsburgh Filmmakers and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts; Susan Friedberg Kalson, CEO, Squirrel Hill Health Center; Rona L. Nesbit, executive vice president, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust; and William E. Strickland Jr., president & CEO, Manchester Bidwell Corp.


HMT & Associates Inc. promoted James M. Harshman to vice president of corporate engineering and hired Ralph J. Kraszewski as senior construction manager and Fred D. White, master code official as building inspection department manager.


The Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians announced Kevin Wong as its 66th president. Dr. Wong practices at Western Pennsylvania Family Medicine Associates, part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System, in Jeannette, Westmoreland County.

Real Estate

Howard Hanna Real Estate Services elected its board of trustees to advance and support its foundation that raises funds and donates to children and youth health, free care and human service needs. Serving from 2012 through 2014 are Colleen O'Brien, Kelly Hanna Riley, Howard Slaughter Jr. and Myra White.


PGT Trucking Inc. hired Don Madl as executive director of heavy haul.


Joycelyn Harper and Sara Stillwell, staff members of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, received the Kuem Rye Park Memorial Fund Award. The Kuem Rye Park Memorial Fund was created by Michael Surh, grandson of Kuem Rye Park, to promote excellence in helping individuals with intellectual disabilities. His grandmother, a woman passionate for helping others, passed away when Mr. Surh was a senior at Carnegie Mellon University in 2010.

Carlow University selected four distinguished alumnae as its 2012 Carlow Laureates, the University's most prestigious alumnae award. The 2012 Carlow Laureates are: Michele Rehfeld Atkins, president and CEO of Heritage Community Initiatives; Patricia G. Donahoe, co-founder of TBM Staffing Inc. and Medical Staffing Network; Michele Fabrizi, president and CEO, MARC USA; andMarilyn Radke, medical officer, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
