Hampton native Steve Byrne, star of the TBS comedy series "Sullivan & Son," has suffered an injury to his face, Deadline.com reports. That has led to a shutdown of the set-in-Pittsburgh show, which had been in production on its second season.
Christine Ebersole, who co-stars with Bryne on the show and performs in Pittsburgh on Monday, said the TV show is shut down for nine weeks. "That's why I got [to fly] home [Wednesday]. His jaw is wired shut for six weeks; a cabbie broke his jaw. Something happened, a cab driver got mad and apparently broke his jaw and the person he was with got two black eyes. I really don't know anything beyond that," she said. Production on "Sullivan & Son" will resume in June, with the show still expected to make the delivery date for a summer premiere.
The series revolves around Steve Sullivan (Byrne), a successful corporate attorney who returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh to run the family bar upon learning his parents are about to sell it off. In addition to Ebersole, it co-stars comedians Owen Benjamin and Roy Wood Jr. as well as Valerie Azlynn, Dan Lauria, Vivian Bang, Jodi Long and Brian Doyle-Murray.
After Porsha Stewart learned her husband, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart, filed for divorce last month through media reports, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star says she's grateful for her friends and family, People reports.
"For me this is a very difficult time, for myself and my family. And I'm just trying to remain strong," she said at Bravo's upfront event at Pillars 37 Studios in New York on Wednesday.
She continued, "That's all I can do and lean on my friends and family right now."
Although going through a divorce in the public eye can be trying, Porsha, 31, says she's received an outpouring of support from family, friends and fans.
"When you have strong arms and strong family around you, they cover you, that's what they're there for, so that's who I'm leaning on. It's really a blessing to see it."
But the reality star's gratitude is nothing new - just one day after news of the couple's split made headlines, she told Twitter followers, "Thank you for your Prayers."
She was married to Kordell Stewart for almost two years.
For Magic Johnson, supporting his gay son, Earvin Johnson III, known as "E.J.," wasn't even a question. But Magic knew that for E.J., coming out to his parents, which happened years ago, was just the first step, People reports.
"I told him, 'Hey, we are here to support you, man. We're going to love you no matter who you are, what you do. We just want you to love yourself,' " the NBA legend, 53, tells TMZ.com in a new video.
It was six or seven years ago that Magic and E.J. had that talk. And Magic remembers asking E.J. at the time: "What do you think about what your friends and [other] people are going to say once you tell them? Or have you told anybody?"
Turns out E.J. had told only his two closest friends. But this week, at age 20, E.J. came out publicly - walking hand in hand with his boyfriend on the Sunset Strip.
To Magic, it's just as great a moment, if not more so, than when E.J. came out to him and his wife, Cookie.
"I love E.J. so much, that's my main man," Magic says. "I think he really wanted to be out. But he was torn. ... He just didn't know how. He just said, 'This is my moment. This is my time. I'm happy to share with the world who I am.' And I said, 'Go, E.J., go.' "
He adds: "This is a good moment for us as a family and a greater moment for him. Now he's just the bubbly kid we knew again. ... I'm behind him a million percent. This is really wonderful for him."
Hotel owner Vikram Chatwal was arrested at Florida's Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Tuesday after trying to get on a plane with a large stash of drugs, People reports.
According to the police report, Chatwal - who is close to Lindsay Lohan and was erroneously linked to Padma Lakshmi - tried to board with cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills.
Chatwal, 41, owns New York City's Dream Hotel, a popular spot with celebrities.
According to the police report, the Transportation Security Administration discovered the drugs hidden on his person and in his bag. He was booked on one count of trafficking (six grams of heroin) and seven counts of possession for cocaine, heroin, marijuana and various other drugs.
A search of his carry-on bag revealed several different types of loose white pills that appeared to be controlled substances.
While attempting to identify the white pills, the TSA found a small piece of white plastic wrap in the hotel owner's jacket pocket that tested positive for cocaine. Chatwal was then arrested by Broward County Sheriff's Office.
A further search found a clear bag containing about six grams of heroin hidden in the crotch of Chatwal's pants. Also found: Buprenorphine (an opioid), Xanax, muscle relaxants, sedatives and ketamine (a type of horse tranquilizer).
The report states that Chatwal did not have prescriptions for any of these drugs.
"The arrestee provided a statement to narcotics detectives admitting possessing and purchasing the controlled substances illegally," wrote Officer Carmen Hunsinger in his report.
TMZ was the first to report the story.
A new police report says two witnesses saw a car pull alongside a Rolls Royce driven by rapper Rick Ross earlier this year in South Florida and heard numerous gunshots fired before the car crashed into a nearby building, The Associated Press reports.
The Fort Lauderdale police report released Thursday says witnesses saw three or four people inside an older model, burgundy or maroon BMW before the shots rang out. Neither Ross nor his girlfriend, fashion designer Shateria L. Moragne-el, were injured in the Jan. 28 attack. The bullets mostly struck nearby businesses.
The witnesses told police that the car's occupants fired out of their passenger side window at Ross' vehicle, according to the report. Police recovered 18 bullet casings.
The report also says that Ross was armed with a loaded 9mm semiautomatic handgun in his waistband. Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, did not draw the gun. The police report also notes that Ross has a suspended concealed weapon permit.
Police are reviewing video from 20 surveillance cameras in the area for clues. The footage has not been made public.
