By George, this Mr. Takei is one creative fellow. He's currently on Nickelodeon's "Supah Ninjas" as "HoloGramps," and tonight he drops by ABC's endearingly goofball comedy "The Neighbors" to play Larry Bird's dad.
His other prolific social media pursuits include Tuesday's Supreme Court hearings on California's Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage, and promotion of his latest book, "Oh Myyy: There Goes the Internet."
Takei's Facebook page has more than 3.75 million "likes," and @GeorgeTakei has nearly 603,000 Twitter followers, who get tweets that are Takei's mix of self-promotion, pop culture and political beliefs.
Takei has been an outspoken supporter of gay marriage rights. He and Brad Altman were married in 2008, and were the first same-sex couple to apply for a marriage license in West Hollywood.
Takei's autobiography tells tales of behind-the-scenes 'Star Trek' rivalries, as well as his experiences as a Japanese-American child in an internment camp during World War II.
