Mellon Financial Corp. said Steve Canter, chairman and chief executive officer of The Dreyfus Corp., and Ronald O'Hanley, president of Mellon Institutional Asset Management, have been named vice chairmen by the corporation's board of directors.

Postal
Cynthia McMullen will be sworn in as Pittsburgh's 45th postmaster in a ceremony on Friday. McMullen is the first woman to serve as postmaster in Pittsburgh's 213-year postal history.

Metro Benefits said Rick Slagle joined as an assistant analyst and Shelia Baumgardner McLaughlin rejoined as a senior analyst.
Title Insurance
Chicago Title Insurance Co. said Katherine Laffey Lobdell has joined as director of business development and Keith E. Gamble has been named director of marketing.
BUSINESS NOTES
O.C. Cluss Lumber Co., based in Uniontown, purchased Fred E. Beachy Lumber Co. of Oakland, Md. Cluss, with yards in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has an annual volume of $70 million. Beachy has locations in Oakland, Md., and Canaan Valley, W.Va., with sales in excess of $13 million.
NEW BUSINESS/ NEW OFFICES
Sewickley Graphics & Design Inc. relocated to 605 Beaver St., Sewickley.
Greater Pittsburgh Joint and Muscle Center, 617 West Main St., Carnegie, has had its grand opening. The center offers the most current technological advancements in conservative pain management and rehabilitation. The executive director is Dr. Frank Verri.
DIVIDENDS
Parkvale Financial Corp. declared a quarterly dividend of 18 cents per share, payable July 25 to stockholders of record June 29.
Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp. declared a quarterly dividend of 10 cents per share on its common stock, payable July 31 to shareholders of record July 13.
