Alpern, Rosenthal & Co. said Richard Hilliard joined as a senior accountant in the accounting/auditing department and that Denise Ullom was hired as a senior accountant in the tax department.

First Commonwealth Financial Corp. named Sue McMurdy senior vice president and chief information officer.

Biotechnology

Cellomics said its senior management team, as part of a new reporting structure, now includes Conan Li, vice president, product development; Changjin Wang, vice president, business development; and John H. Tyson, vice president, manufacturing. L. Robert Johnston Jr., executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been promoted to lead the management team.

James J. Burke was appointed chief operating officer at Quest Fore.

Access Data Corp. said Joseph H. Jones has been promoted to vice president, Mid-Atlantic Region, and Larry Rinne has been promoted to managing director, Midwest Region. John Christensen joined as managing director, Northeast Region, and will oversee client activities and growth in the Boston, Hartford, Conn.; New York City and Philadelphia areas; and Melinda Kramer was named managing director, consulting services.

Andrew Schrenk has joined P.J. Dick as project manager at the Hillman Cancer Center job site.

FedEx Ground promoted Stephen W. Handy to senior vice president of operations planning and engineering and chief learning officer.

Monongahela Valley Hospital appointed Drs. David W. Johnson and Robert J. Piroli to its medical staff. Johnson joined the department of medical imaging and Piroli joined the department of medicine.

Greycourt & Co. Inc. said Gregory R. Friedman joined the firm as principal and will lead a Greycourt office in Portland, Ore.

Paul S. Bazzano has been appointed general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe.

Kathleen A. Gallagher and Peter N. Pross have joined the Pittsburgh office of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott as members. Also, Stephen T. Kunian, Michael J. Owens, Edward S. Rooney and John L. Richard Berdik, president of Dietrich Metal Framing, will retire May 31. Ed Ponko, executive vice president, has been named his successor.

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh has named Kelly Gable-LaBell children's services director; Bill Cartiff health and services director; and Rae-Gayle Pakler adult services director.

The Pittsburgh Stock and Bond Association said its board officers and directors for 2001 include Ronald McKenna of JP Morgan Chase, president; Frank Randazza of PNC Capital Markets, first vice president; Susan Quinn of PNC Capital Markets, second vice president; Jeff Petro of Federated Investors, treasurer; and Jennifer Setzenfand of Federated Investors, secretary. Chelsea Building Products made a donation of cassette recorders, slide projectors and carousel slide trays to St. Joseph School in Verona.

The Eric Ryan Corp. and EserviceZ.com, a division of R.C.B. Business Associates Inc., have formed an alliance to better support customer base and to bring to each company's clients the best of the two firms' field of expertise. Ryan Corp. specializes in utility and telecommunications auditing as well as energy procurement consulting. EserviceZ.com is an Internet applications design and development company, and also offers computer system support.

True Commerce Inc. has unveiled a new "content accessible" Web site, www.truecommerce.com, which discusses its products and the EC compliance process.

Ad Graphic Inc. has changed its name to AGI.

Hill, Barth & King has expanded its financial services practice with the merger of Sorce Financial Group of Erie. Effective immediately, the new financial firm will practice as HBK Sorce Financial.

Carnegie Technology Education, a nonprofit subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University, announces its partnership with Community of Agile Partners in Education. The partnership allows CTE to market its information technology course to CAPE's 60 college and university members. The course is aimed at women, minorities and other groups interested in high-tech careers.

NEW BUSINESS/ NEW OFFICES

BAA Pittsburgh Inc. announced the opening of The Museum Co., the world's largest retailer of museum-related merchandise, at Pittsburgh International Airport's Airmall. The Museum Co. operates 100 stores throughout North America, Canada and Israel.

Roomful Express Furniture will open its 12th location at the former Gabes building in Greensburg in mid-May.

LawCorps Legal Staffing Services moved to One Mellon Bank Center, 500 Grant St., Suite 2120.

Consol Energy Inc. opened an office in Brisbane, Australia, to develop business opportunities in coal production and coal bed methane extraction.

Lash Work Environments said it opened regional offices in Cleveland.

Science Applications International Corp. opened an office at 8500 Brooktree Road in Wexford. SAIC is the nation's largest employee-owned research and engineering company.

CONTRACTS

CommuniTech said Aptech Computer Systems Inc. renewed its contract for CommuniTech to provide marketing services as part of a yearlong retainer agreement.

Mascot Systems Ltd. has signed multiple outsourcing contracts, worth a total of $3.3 million, with a leading international technology company to utilize Mascot's Internet services.

NetworkNEXT has been awarded a $210,000 advertising contract with the New York Film Academy.

Tedco Construction Corp., has received contracts for the following projects: Allegiance Telecom, general construction contract; Mt. Lebanon's new Public Safety Building, construction management contract; and South Side Works parking garage for the URA, construction management contract.

Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates has been selected to design a 300-bed residence hall for Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.

Bally Design Inc. has entered a agreement to provide product design and development services to OXO International, the kitchen utensil and housewares maker based in New York City.

Eaton Corp. declared a regular quarterly dividend of 44 cents per share on its common stock, payable May 25 to shareholders of record next Monday.

Promistar Financial Corp. declared a cash dividend of 21 cents per share, payable June 1 to shareholders of record next Monday.

GA Financial Inc. declared a dividend of 18 cents a share, payable May 21 to stockholders of record May 11.

AWARDS/HONORS

The Pittsburgh Hilton and Towers said three of its team members had been awarded Hilton Hotels Corp.'s most prestigious award. Susan Ranalli, Cynthia Thomas and John Tomko were selected among 21 other employees as the Hilton Hotels Corp.'s "Team Members of the Year."

Precise Polestar was named "Supplier of the Year" by Lutron Electronics.

Allstate insurance agent Aaron Buhl earned the personal financial representative title.

Ideal Integration said its recent project work for Bayer Corp. has received a Level I award from Bayer's Polyurethanes Division recognition committee for superior contributions to Bayer's continuous improvement process.
