Citizens Bank: Vendor issue causes delays in transactions
March 17, 2017 9:56 AM
Citizens Bank has notified its customers that they may see “a delay in transactions posting to their accounts, due to a vendor processing issue.”
A problem at a company that processes transactions for Citizens Bank and other financial institutions caused delays in the posting of direct deposits and other transactions to customers' accounts Friday morning, the bank said.
The bank alerted its customers around 9 a.m. that they may see a delay in transactions posting to accounts “due to a vendor processing issue.”
The problem was mainly affecting direct deposits and online bill payments.
“This issue is affecting multiple financial institutions. We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to resolve this issue,” Citizens Bank said in a message to customers via email and Twitter.
By noon the problem had been resolved, according to Citizens.
However, a subsequent heavy volume of activity caused a “slowdown” in online and mobile banking, the bank said.
2/2: This issue is affecting multiple financial institutions. We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to resolve this issue.
