Bombardier to relocate some offices to Strip District from West Mifflin

Bombardier Transportation will occupy about 90,000 square feet of space in the former Seagate building in the Strip District.

The company has signed a long-term lease to relocate several of its business divisions from its offices in West Mifflin to the 200,000-square-foot One Waterfront Place, according to an announcement Tuesday by Cushman & Wakefield Grant Street Associates.

Among the Bombardier divisions moving to the Strip is its rail control solutions group.

"It's great to see a global leader in rail technology move into the original tech building of the Strip District. Keeping Bombardier in Pittsburgh is a coup for the region's growing technology sector," said Randy McCombs, one of the Grant Street Associates brokers who represented Bombardier.

In a statement, Mayor Bill Peduto said the move is a "great addition to the city's booming transportation and technology sectors, and is a perfect fit with the fabric of the Strip District."

The announcement did not state how many employees would be relocating.

Bombardier also has retained Cushman & Wakefield Grant Street Associates to dispose of its existing 176,485-square-foot building on Lebanon Church Road in West Mifflin.
