The Mortgage Bankers Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania elected it's new officers for the 2014-15 term. President: Daniel Fix, Sail Mortgage Corp.; vice president: Ron Nardis, Charleroi Federal Savings Bank; secretary: Laura Seech, Victorian Finance LLC; and treasurer: Karen Camden, Sail Mortgage Corp.

Board of directors: Lisa Clore, Community Bank; Ronan Jones, Ditio Appraisals; Rob Kopec. Apollo Trust Co.; Del Hague, Washington Financial Bank; and Greg Williams, Genworth.

Education

Point Park University named Lou Corsaro its managing director of marketing and public relations.

Manufacturing

Pittsburgh Corning Corporation and Pittsburgh Corning Europe elected James R. Kane as chairman and chief executive officer of both entities.

Mortgage Services

Laurie Nelson-Fitzgerald, owner of NelsonFitzgerald Mortgage Services LLC, Wexford, has announced the merger of her firm with Pittsburgh-based mortgage banker, Holland Mortgage Advisors. Holland Mortgage Advisors main office is located at 4640 Campbells Run Road, Robinson. Ms. Nelson-Fitzgerald will run the firm's branch office located at 10 N. Meadows Drive, Suite 11, Wexford.

Museum

The Frick Art & Historical Center elected Mary Jo Dively, vice president and general counsel, Carnegie Mellon University, to its board of trustees. Ms. Dively was elected to serve as a term trustee. In addition, the board also elected officers and an executive committee member. Elected as officers were: Carolyn B. Reed, chair; Edward H. Dane, vice chair; Matthew J. Teplitz, treasurer; and Carolyn D. Duronio, secretary. Suzzara F.C. Durocher was elected as a member of its executive committee. Re-elected term trustees include David Burstin, Wilford A. Payne, and Matthew J. Teplitz. Virginia Burden Hart and Thomas E. Symington were reappointed as family trustees.

Nonprofit

Ann Hrabik joined Ward Home Inc. as development manager.

Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services named Michael J. Zaken, retired from U.S. Steel Corp., to its board.

Public Relations

Debbie Brannan was promoted to partner, corporate controller, Ketchum.

Professional Services

Falck Safety Services said Joe Podolinski joined its national sales team.

Awards and Honors

Patricia "Patti" Darnley, president and CEO of Gateway Health, was inducted into the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Eberly College of Business Hall of Distinction. Ms. Darnley, a 1981 graduate of IUP, was recognized for her business achievements, leadership and high level of success in business, specifically health care.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's board of trustees recognized brothers Nicholas and Louis Suarez as its 2013 Advocates of the Year. The annual award recognizes outstanding and deserving community members who demonstrate a commitment to further library services. Nicholas and Louis have been "library kids" since they were very young, volunteering a combined 807 hours to date. Their volunteer work at CLP - Beechview includes assisting with preparations for Summer Reading Club events, grilling hotdogs at the annual Summer Reading Kick-Off cook-outs, and handling routine projects such as cleaning children's books.

Lauren O'Donnell, assistant professor of pharmacology, was among three faculty members honored at the 22nd annual Teacher of the Year ceremony last month at Duquesne University. Sponsored by the chapter of the Omicron Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, the awards provide Duquesne students with the opportunity to nominate and recognize a faculty member who exemplifies leadership and excellence in the classroom at the university. More than 100 teachers were nominated for the 2013-14 academic year. A faculty member in Duquesne's Mylan School of Pharmacy since 2010, Ms. O'Donnell teaches courses on human physiology and pathology, GI/rheumatology and infectious disease, among others. Her research focuses on interactions between neurotropic viruses, infected neurons and infiltrating immune cells in the brain.
