Top Workplaces full speed ahead -- deadline extended to Mar. 22

The Post-Gazette's Top Workplaces contest continues to grow.

In our fourth year, we are setting a record pace for nominations for the best employers in the region.

We have surveyed about 3,500 employees in the region, and approximately 11,000 more will be surveyed soon. More than 1,000 companies have been invited to participate.

Our survey partner, Exton, Pa.-based WorkplaceDynamics, has had such an overwhelming response that we are extending the deadline for nominations through March 28.

Early anonymous responses of surveyed employees demonstrate the regard they hold for their organizations:

"My employers give me the opportunity to be a better employee. Their trust encourages me to take responsibility for my job and makes me strive to do my best work."

"My manager is supportive, flexible and cares about my development."

"I have a voice within the organization. My colleagues and supervisors encourage engagement and creative thinking, and appreciate my contributions."

"I'm encouraged and supported to do the best I can."

The top employers will be recognized in a special section of the Post-Gazette and online at Sept. 28.

There also will be a party in their honor.

Nominations are open to all employers that have at least 50 workers in the greater Pittsburgh area, including Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties. There is no cost for the survey, and every organization that takes part will receive feedback on its workplace.
