Timothy Zimmerman, president and CEO, Standard Bank, was elected secretary of the Independent Community Bankers of America for 2013-14.

Dan Skena was named rental industry director on the board for the American Rental Association's insurance subsidiary, ARA Insurance. Mr. Skena is president of PartySavvy.


Peter J. Balmert joined Mars National Bank as senior vice president and chief lending officer.

NexTier Bank said Gary J. Norris joined as a vice president, commercial lending.


Patrick McElhinny is the new chief of police at Penn State Greater Allegheny.


Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. hired Andrew L. Dietz, staff consultant, civil/site, and Katharine Grove, technical assistant, environmental.


Oberg Industries named David Bonvenuto as president.

Sauereisen promoted Pete J. Jansen to Midwest regional manager and Maureen E. Bankert to controller.

Tsudis Chocolate Co. hired Sylwia Dabrowka as its new supply chain financial analyst.


Pittsburgh Magazine announced that Cindi Lash will be joining as editor.


Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia elected Tammy Aupperle, Daniel Baronick and Richard Guerrini to its board. Ms. Aupperle is the chair of the H.J. Heinz Co. Foundation. Mr. Baronick is the vice president of commercial banking for S&T Bank. Mr. Guerrini is the president and chief executive officer of PNC Investments.

The board of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania elected new officers and three new directors. R. Yvonne Campos, CEO and founder of Campos Inc. was named chairperson. Also elected were: vice chairperson, Shawn Hanlon, partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers; secretary, Sid Zonn, vice president and general counsel, Robert Morris University; treasurer, William Stayduhar, business consultant at Bridgeway Capital; and immediate past chairperson, Patrick Guinee, vice president of corporate governance and securities, Heinz Co. Newly elected directors are Ken Johnston, senior vice president and chief operations officer of Peoples Natural Gas and Peoples TWP; Robert J. Tiskus, first vice president, team leader in First Niagara Bank's Corporate Bank; and returning director, Donald Kalkbrenner, vice president, distribution administration at Highmark.

Awards & Honors

Lisa Strother Upsher was recognized as a Dignity & Respect Champion for using community education to defeat the negative myths of organ donation. Ms. Upsher is the minority organ tissue transplant education program director at the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. The Dignity & Respect Campaign is an awareness initiative designed to join individuals, community leaders, community organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and corporations under the common notion that everyone deserves dignity and respect.
