American Eagle Outfitters’s worldwide adventures continue, with the South Side teen clothing retailer planning to open three stores in the United Kingdom this fall.
The company announced this morning that it will put a store in the Bluewater mall in Kent, England, in addition to stores in two shopping centers in London. The stores will be company owned and operated.
American Eagle, like other teen clothing purveyors, has been struggling with U.S. sales and looking at closing some locations here to adapt to a customer population that is shopping more online and through mobile technology.
Meanwhile, the company has found opportunity in international growth. It has stores in Canada, Mexico, China and Hong Kong. There are American Eagle franchise stores in 13 countries.
