One of the top high school football players in the WPIAL is done for the season because of a knee injury.
Washington running back Shai McKenzie found out this morning that he has a torn anterior cruuciate ligament in his right knee and will not play the rest of the season. McKenzie sustained the injury in Friday's game against Charleroi and had an MRI this morning. Washington coach Mike Bosnic was with McKenzie this morning and confirmed the torn ACL.
McKenzie wrote on his Twitter account "Torn ACL very sad to say my High School career is over but I will have better days in the future I promise."
McKenzie led the WPIAL in rushing last season and had 650 yards in only three games this season. He is one of the most heavily recruited players in the WPIAL class of 2014. He has narrowed his list of college choices to Pitt, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Arkansas.
