The honors continue to roll in for Pitt Freshman tailback Dion Lewis, who has been named the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference rookie of the year.
Lewis, who was the nation's third-leading rusher with 1,640 yards, has already been named the Big East Conference offensive player and rookie of the year and is the only true freshman to be named to The Associated Press All-America team. He also was named the Sporting News freshman of the year, among other honors.
Other Pitt players named to the All-ECAC team include sophomore receiver Jonathan Baldwin, senior tight end Dorin Dickerson, junior offensive tackle Jason Pinkston, senior offensive guard John Malecki, junior defensive end Greg Romeus, senior defensive tackle Mick Williams and senior linebacker Adam Gunn.
The ECAC includes nearly 300 member institutions from 16 states, ranging from Maine to North Carolina and as far west as Illinois.
Pitt (9-3) will conclude its season against North Carolina (8-4) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
