Biographies

 

Gary Rotstein, 39, covers various issues for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His previous special reports have included examinations of Squirrel Hill's distinctive Jewish community and the phenomenon of sports betting. Rotstein has been with the newspaper in two stints since 1983, as Harrisburg correspondent, assistant city editor and city neighborhoods reporter. He previously served as a reporter for United Press International and managing editor of the Bedford (Pa.) Gazette. A 1980 graduate of the University of Tennessee, he lives in Point Breeze with his wife and three children.

 

Joyce Mendelsohn came to the Post-Gazette in 1979 from the Sarasota Journal where she worked for three years. Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, she graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in photojournalism.
