A&E’s set-in-Pittsburgh series is getting another shot, but it’s a pretty downgraded shot at that. “Those Who Kill” will re-launch Sunday on cable’s LMN (Lifetime Movie Network).
The first two episodes, which previously aired on A&E, will repeat at 8 and 9 p.m. Sunday with the new, third episode airing at 10 p.m.
LMN is a sister network to A&E and Lifetime; Lifetime aired reruns of the first two “Those Who Kill” episodes earlier this week.
LMN is not as widely available as A&E – LMN is in 83 million homes compared with 97 million homes for A&E – and is not known for programming original, scripted weekly series, though it does offer original TV movies. Unless “Those Who Kill” scores big ratings by LMN standards, a second season seems unlikely.
A&E pulled “Those Who Kill” from its Monday night lineup earlier this month after two episodes aired to disappointing ratings. The March 3 debut drew 1.4 million viewers and a 0.5 18-49 demographic rating. Its lead-in, “Bates Motel,” drew roughly 3 million. Even fewer viewers tuned in for the second episode of "Those Who Kill" on March 10: less than 900,000 (and a 0.3, 18-49 rating).
The series follows Pittsburgh homicide detective Catherine Jensen (Chloe Sevigny) as she partners with a forensic psychologist (James D’Arcy) to track down serial killers and investigate her stepfather, a Pittsburgh judge who she believes killed her long-missing brother.
“Those Who Kill” shot its pilot in Pittsburgh in December 2012 and returned in September to film an additional nine episodes.
