Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen and Boston's "Big Papi," David Ortiz, will be executive producers on a new weekly show as part of an existing multi-year partnership between Major League Baseball and pop culture network MTV.
The 30-episode, cross-platform series, to be shot in New York City's MLB Fan Cave site, is expected to debut on MTV2 in April. Building on the popularity of the MLB Fan Cave, which mixes baseball with music, popular culture, media, technology and art via social media, the new series "will move beyond game analysis, stats and highlights to showcase MLB athletes off the field, spotlighting the starts' personalities and passions through a series of player interview and features, in addition to celebrity appearances," according to an MTV statement.
"Music is a passion of mine so when I was asked to be involved in a show that brings baseball to MTV, I jumped at it," Mr. McCutchen said in a press statement.
MTV2 network is a sibling to Viacom's MTV.
