The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation is commemorating two milestones -- its 40th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of its Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop for high school students.

Media professionals, Bolden workshop alumni and media federation supporters will gather at a gala Friday at the University Club in Oakland. Reception is at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and program at 7. Ticket are $60 and can be purchased at www.PBMF.org until noon Monday.

Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund college scholarships for Bolden graduates. In addition to honoring winners of the annual Robert L. Vann media awards, the program includes discussion from Sharon Epperson, a CNBC correspondent, and Washington Post reporter Keith Alexander, both workshop graduates.
