Bid a fond farewell to the talented quintet of CLO Cabaret’s “Altar Boyz,” which closes out an extended run at the Cabaret at Theater Square this week. It’s a fun show for anyone who ever has had a boy-band crush, with a spirited spiritual message as an added bonus. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman time jump to the Victorian Era for “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride,” which makes another leap from the small screen on New Year's Day to movie theaters Tuesday and Wednesday. The Fathom Events screenings in our area are at AMC Loews Waterfront in West Homestead and Cinemark Monroeville Mall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh presents the “The Wizard of Oz” tour, featuring movie favorites and new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, at Heinz Hall beginning 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a free 6:30 p.m. “Know the Show Before You Go” talk at the Trust Arts Education Center (reservations required, see trustarts.org). Other showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. next Sunday, plus 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Tickets: $31-$78, trustarts.org or 412-392-4900.

The monthly “Art on Tap” will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. The evening will include music by Jane West, a scavenger hunt, light bites from The Pier at Sharky’s and beer from All Saints Brewing Company among other drinks. SATURDAY jan. 9

Chatham Baroque’s annual Twelfth Night Gala takes on a whole new meaning this year, as 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. The early music ensemble is also celebrating its own anniversary (25 years young) at this annual party, which includes live music inspired by Shakespeare, food and a silent auction of art. The gala starts at 8 p.m. at the Ace Hotel, 120 S. Whitfield St., East Liberty. “Oberon’s Feast” starts at 6 p.m. at Whitfield, the hotel’s restaurant, and includes dinner and a performance by Chatham Baroque. The gala is $125, $115 for subscribers. Artist and Linesville, Pa., native Robert Griffing will discuss his painting “The Wounding of General Braddock: Battle of the Monongahela, 9 July 1755” at 1 p.m. at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. Mr. Griffing will discuss his passion for storytelling and capturing the eastern frontier during the nation’s tumultuous founding.
