The sixth annual SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day presenting the works of dozens of local female artists is Saturday at the New Hazlett Theater, North Side.
The event -- featuring musicians, dancers, actors, filmmakers, poets, visual artists and fashion designers -- is inspired by the Maya Angelou quote, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
SWAN Days occur all over the world on the same weekend each year.
Artists featured in Pittsburgh include Kahmeela Adams, Lissa Brennan, Camelia Road, Kathryn Carr, Gab Cody, Continuum Dance Theater, Cynthia Croot, Tiara Dinkins, fireWALL Dance Theater, Elizabeth Fortunato, Cara Hertneky, Christina McNeese, Chloe J. Newman, Bridgette Perdue, Reed Dance, Texture Contemporary Ballet, Kristin Thomas, Anqwenique Wingfield, Marci Woodruff, Kira Yeversky and more.
Presented by the No Name Players theater company, SWAN Day includes a 6:30 p.m. preshow reception with hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast, live music and a dance performance by eMotionCo Dance.
Performances begin at 8 p.m.
