The Britsburgh Festival this year includes a concert at Heinz Memorial Chapel, 4200 Fifth Ave., University of Pittsburgh, Oakland. Local organists Barbara McKelway, Doug Starr, Rebecca Rollett and Jon Tyillian will perform music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Field, Handel and more on the chapel organ at 3 p.m. A walking tour of the chapel’s stained glass windows begins at 2 p.m. Free but registration is requested at britsburgh.com. The Tom Rainey Trio kicks off International Jazz Poetry Month at City of Asylum@Alphabet City, 40 W. North Ave., North Side, at 7 p.m. The trio features three world-class musicians at the top of their game — drummer and bandleader Mr. Rainey, Ingrid Laubrock on saxophone and Mary Halvorson on guitar. Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks presents “Henry V” directed by Alan Irvine in Highland Park, across from the Super Playground on Reservoir Drive at 2 p.m. The show features Lamar K. Cheston as Henry V — one of England’s most legendary kings and an inspiring young leader who aims to win back territories through war with France. “Henry V” also includes seven other actors, Stoney Richards, Tonya R. Lynn, Nick Benninger, Amy Dick, Ryan Bergman, Bob Colbert and Sarah Carleton, as well as a company of young local actors playing the “Soldiers Company.”
The production is staged in three Pittsburgh parks over four weekends on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Other show dates are: Sept. 16-17 at Arsenal Park, 40th Street between Penn Avenue and Butler Street (enter on 40th Street at Davison Street), Lawrenceville, and Sept. 23-24 at Frick Park, Blue Slide playground, Beechwood Boulevard and Nicholson Street, Squirrel Hill. Arrive by 1:30 p.m. with a blanket or chair to get a spot for opening words from the director/storyteller Mr. Irvine and Yvonne Hudson as Mrs. Shakespeare at varied events.
