The classical crossover group Il Divo performs at Heinz Hall as part of the “Amor & Pasion” tour, which features music from Spain, Cuba, Mexico and Argentina and is based on the quartet’s latest album. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. $59-$229; www.heinzhall.org or 412-392-4900.

The musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra present a day of chamber music at various times and venues throughout the Pittsburgh area. The performances are free and range from a bass quartet in the airport’s baggage claim area to a New Orleans-style funk band in the Hill District. Ensembles perform at 10 a.m. (Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, Friendship, and Hillman Cancer Center, Shadyside), 12 p.m. (Allegheny County Courthouse and Fifth Avenue Place, Downtown), 2 p.m. (Canterbury Place, Lawrenceville, Little Sisters of the Poor, Brighton Heights, Pittsburgh International Airport, Moon, and Magee-Women’s Hospital atrium, Oakland), 4:30 p.m. (Light of Life Ministries, North Side) and 6 p.m. (Hill House veranda, Hill District). THURSDAY oct. 6 

Exhibiting artist Barrie Kaufman and her collaborator Jason Forck discuss their Pittsburgh Glass Center project, which became the exhibition “River, Stream, Tap,” at 6 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 6300 Fifth Ave., Shadyside. Ms. Kaufman is a West Virginia artist. The exhibition, which examines the importance of water, was in part inspired by a 2014 spill of coal cleaning chemicals that contaminated the Charleston, W.Va., water supply.The project was supported in part by the Glass Center and Blenko Glass of West Virginia. Information: http://center.pfpca.org or 412-361-0873. both cq

John McIntire’s Dangerously Live Comedy Talk Show “Election Fever” will take place at the Parkway Theater, 644 Broadway Ave., Stowe, at 8 p.m. In a world where “insults top issues, in a world where a U.S. presidential candidate loves him some Putin, in a world where someone won't stop referencing ‘in a world,’ join the world of sarcasm and laughter aimed at our insane political process.” The show includes stand-up comedy from Mr. McIntire and analysis by a panel of experts: featured comedian Gab Bonesso, U.S. Rep. Comedian and nationally syndicated radio personality Rickey Smiley performs at the August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Downtown, at 8 p.m.  Mr. Smiley is probably best known for his radio program, “The Ricky Smiley Morning Show.” He also starred in the TV One sitcom “The Rickey Smiley Show” and the reality series “Rickey Smiley For Real.” Tickets, $65-$75, include the after-party. Local Scherenschnitte artist Kathryn Carr will read from and sign copies of  the recently released “Lizbeth Lou Got a Rock in Her Shoe,” written by Troy Howell and illustrated with reproductions of her hand-cut paper dioramas, at 11 a.m. at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 6300 Fifth Ave., Shadyside.
