It looks like the North Shore is in for a busy Fourth of July weekend.
Kenny Chesney is already set for Heinz Field on July 2, a Saturday night. PNC Park officials are expected to announce Thursday that they will host a Billy Joel performance. According to Post-Gazette media partner KDKA, that show will be Friday, July 1.
Due to the back-to-back concerts, the Three Rivers Regatta will host the fireworks on the Fourth but move its three-day event to the first weekend in August.
There also are talks to bring Beyonce to Heinz Field. KDKA is reporting that show will be in late May. That tour will likely be announced after she performs with Coldplay during the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 7.
Joel, last seen here at Consol Energy Center in February 2014, played at Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston last summer and has already been announced to play Petco Park in San Diego in May.
Last summer, Pittsburgh played host to four major stadium shows, the most in the city's history: Chesney, Taylor Swift, the Rolling Stones and One Direction. It looks like the North Shore is up to three so far for 2016.
