If you‘‍re coming Downtown for a show at any of the many theaters in the Pittsburgh Cultural District, you know that parking can be a headache, especially if there’‍s a ballgame across the river or a big event at Consol Energy Center or the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

One tool in your arsenal could be a click of a smartphone away. The ParkPGH app, project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, was created to provide real-time parking information about lot locations and available parking spaces, plus parking rates. A demonstration video is at http://www.trustarts.org/visit/directions-parking/parkpgh.

In case you‘‍re coming in from or heading out to the ‘‍burbs, a traffic-alert option is the 511PA mobile app, which was designed to cover PennDOT-operated roadways. Traffic incidents, construction alerts and speeds are reported on approximately 15,000 miles of roadway, according to the website 511PA.com.
