Honus Wagner movie planned

TNT has given a green light to "The Winning Season," starring Matthew Modine as Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Honus Wagner and Kristin Davis ("Sex and the City") as his fiancee, Mandy Henton.

The film, set to air next spring, is based on the book "Honus and Me" by Dan Gutman and tells the story of a modern-day 12-year-old baseball fanatic who finds a mint condition Honus Wagner baseball card that grants wishes. The boy travels through time back to the 1909 World Series on a journey that changes his, Honus' and Mandy's lives.

A TNT spokeswoman said the film is set in Pittsburgh but will be shot entirely in Winnipeg.
