Pitt freshman receiver Tyler Boyd was named the Atlantic Coast Conference receiver of the week Monday after his performance in the Panthers' 49-27 win against New Mexico Saturday.
In just his second collegiate game, Boyd, a Clairton graduate, caught six passes for 134 yards and one touchdown, a spectacular catch in traffic at the end of the first half.
He also ran twice for 36 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. It was Boyd's first career touchdown.
Through two games, Boyd ranks third in the ACC with an average of 173 all-purpose yards per game.
