Hat Luncheon Preview
It was all about pretty hats Thursday evening as more than 200 guests turned out for the Spring Hat Luncheon Cocktails & Fashion Preview hosted by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy at the Pittsburgh Golf Club. The prelude to the annual Spring Hat Luncheon (mark your calendar for May 1) featured informal fashion modeling and chapeaux galore as guests browsed the hat and accessory boutiques. Shopping along with honorary chairman Jim Rohr were Dr. David Wilson, Janice Friedman, Barbara Mendlowitz, committee co-chairs Helene Blodgett, Tim Condron, Lynn Davenport and Ranny Ferguson and conservancy president Meg Cheever.

Israel Film Fest Opens
The first film of the Israeli Film Festival, "James' Journey to Jerusalem," provided much opportunity for spirited dialogue as the crowd devoured appetizers and desserts by Midas Touch Catering Thursday at Loews Theater. Enjoying opening night of the festival were festival chair Batia Rascoe and its director, Kathryn Spitz, Dick Rauh, Charlie Humphrey, David Conrad, Lee Ferraro, Larry and Becky Stern, Louisa Rudolph, Harvey Sloan, Richard and Ann Kann, Ellen Kander, Leslie Aizenman and Marsha Zuckerman. Daughters and Nobles
Decked out in fezzes and their delegation colors, they came from New York, Ohio, South Carolina and other states to take part in the Second Annual Nobles and Daughters Ball. The event hosted by Arabic Temple #1 Grand Council of Deliberation State of Pennsylvania drew nearly 200 to the Greentree Holiday Inn Saturday night. Nobles' chair Leroy Williams and Daughters' chair Alberta Mosley were among those greeting guests including State Grand Matron Daughter Dolores Walls and Illustrious Potentate Noble Henry Stoutmire Jr. The evening began with a processional and ended with the Grand March at midnight. Among those enjoying the dinner were Daughters Jacqueline Knaff, Virginia Gray and Delphine Lewis-Smith and Nobles David Patrick and William Green.

Black Tie Bingo
Pam Ring won the $1,000 jackpot game and Lonnie Flood, the $890 50-50 prize at Saturday's Black Tie Bingo benefit for Westmoreland Hospice, an agency that provides support and care for persons with a terminal illness. Sponsored by the Westmoreland Regional Hospital Foundation, the fete at Greensburg Country Club also featured some fine dining and a cartload of auction wares for big-time bidder Jane Murtland. Among those hoping to yell "bingo" were event co-chairs Mary Clymer and Mary Catherine Motchar, David and Marie Gallatin, Dr. Thomas and Marcia Kaminski, Frank and Beth Cassell, Richard and Megan Miller, John Ring, Charles and Anna Quiggle and Dave and Debbie Delisi.

Westmoreland Preview
The big draw Saturday evening at Westmoreland Museum of Art in Greensburg was the preview reception for the exhibition, "Along the Lincoln Highway" (through May 30). The local angle/local artists bent provides the kick in this salute to the Pennsylvania portion of the nation's first coast-to-coast highway. Artist sightings included Robert Bowden, Ray DeFazio, Ron Donoughe, Constantine Kermes, Eric Mencher, Kass Mencher, Susan Pollins and Barry Shields. In the crowd: Douglas and Briget Shields, Tom and Jeannie Celli, Dr. Nawaf and Helene Nseir, John Pollins, Win and Joan Beidler, Lou and Joan DeRose, and the show's curator, Barbara Jones.

Wesley's Gala
More than 320 guests gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe Saturday for the Wesley Institute Gala "Celebrating Children." Helping to raise funds for Wesley's numerous services for children with emotional or behavioral health issues were emcee Larry Richert of KDKA, board chair Susan Hughes with Lee, Wesley CEO Doug Muetzel with Linda and COO Dan Findley with Barbara, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy with Nan, Jim and Ann Strader, David and Susan Hicks and Elmore and Brenda Lockley. The alumni award was presented to Joan Kaylor, who is now a licensed therapist.
Lupus Luncheon
The 26th annual Lupus Luncheon attracted more than 400 guests to Heinz Field Saturday afternoon for a preview of spring fashions from Lazurus-Macy's of Ross Park Mall. Staged by Diane DiGregory and Billie Williams, with music by John Vento, the affair was emceed by Larry Richert and chaired by Donna Polito. Helping to raise funds for lupus, a chronic auto-immune disease that affects nearly 2 million Americans, were Lupus Foundation director Deborah Nigro and volunteer award winners Liz Mihalchik, Steve Mihalchik, Frank and Mary Ann Sciulli and student honoree Britanny Mawhinney.
