Looking for a hiking partner? Pluckie, a redtick coonhound mix, could be the dog for you. He loves the outdoors and especially enjoys long hikes, playing in the water and tagging along on bicycle rides.
Pluckie, 4, is very high energy, said Laura Dearing. She and her husband, Ryan, have fostered the dog in their Avalon home since June. The dog is in a good place, in a foster home with Paws Across Pittsburgh. But he needs a home of his own.
The Dearings have fostered 15 dogs in recent years, and Pluckie has been with them for longer than any of the others. It’s kind of puzzling because he is very sweet and handsome, with golden-orange spots and freckles. Although he is a good-sized boy at 65 pounds, he loves to cuddle.
Pluckie’s former owner “fell on hard times” and couldn’t care for him any longer.
He would do best in a home with very active people, the Dearings say. He does not get along with cats but likes other dogs, especially the Dearing dogs — beagle Gus and Rottweiler/chow mix Buddy.
Pluckie loves children and adults and is housebroken and crate-trained. Someone taught him a number of cute tricks, including peekaboo, and he enjoys performing them.
