Others need to join in Gov. Thornburgh’s commonsense call

Thank you, former Gov. Dick Thornburgh, for your commonsense and morally defensible plea to “Let Robert Mueller Do His Job” (Perspectives, June 12).

In the midst of so much unashamedly political tangling, the need for integrity and clarity of purpose was never greater. How refreshing for we lifelong Democrats to be reminded by a lifelong Republican of what really makes America great: respect for its citizens based on deep respect for its laws. Needed are impeccably honest officials willing to cut through personality and partisanship — beyond sound bites and photo ops — in search of basic, uncosmeticized truth.

Much depends on the (hopefully) honorable people we elected to serve. Let’s hear from them as well.
