Immigrants must follow the rules for entering the U.S.

Immigrants must follow the rules for entering the U.S.

In reference to Sister Patricia McCann’s Nov. 26 letter (“Obama Should Be Lauded for Immigration Action”): Sister appears to be one of the many cheerleaders in our country who think that the illegal aliens should stay in our country and reap the benefits to which they have no right.

I’ll bet her forebears didn’t come into this country on a rowboat, swim across a river or climb over a fence to sneak into the country. I would venture to say that they probably came to the United States legally and eventually became citizens — key word “legally.” My grandmother, parents, two siblings, aunts and uncles all came from Italy through Ellis Island legally. They had to have a sponsor and they had to go to school to learn how to read, write and speak the English language before they could become citizens.

I have nothing against immigrants; that’s how our country was founded and that’s why we have such a great country. All the illegal aliens in this country should be sent back to their respective countries then brought back legally through application and a sort of lottery system.
